Is your home's exterior looking a little drab? If so, you aren't alone. No one wants to live in the most bland-looking house on the block. You need to boost your home's curb appeal. Fortunately, there are several things that you can do to to improve your home's appearance that won't take a lot of time or money.
Revamp Your Home's Entrance
You don't want the entrance area to your home to look boring and bland. Your front door — and the area surrounding it — says a lot about you. Are you a warm, inviting person? If so, the entrance area to your house may include a large welcome mat and a few simple decorations. If you aren't the type of person who enjoys entertaining at home, your front entrance might be more sparsely decorated — you may not even have a foot mat, let alone one that welcomes guests. Regardless of your personality, consider sprucing up your home entrance by:
- Cleaning your front door
- Using a pressure washer, such as from Ben's Cleaner Sales, or other cleaning equipment to thoroughly clean your front porch and/or steps
- Painting your front door, if needed.
- Making sure your house number is displayed properly
- Inspecting your mailbox to make sure it's level and in good condition
- Adding seating near your front door if you have enough space
- Using potted plants and seasonal decorations to dress up the space
Clean Your Home's Exterior
One of the easiest ways to increase your home's curb appeal is to clean your home's exterior. Using cleaning equipment, such as a pressure washer, you can clean your house's siding, as well as remove stains from concrete driveways and walkways. Also, consider gathering the proper cleaning equipment and supplies, such as a large squeegee, a ladder, and trash bags, and taking some time to clean the outside of your window and your gutters.
Keep Your Flower Beds Tidy
The key to using flowers or shrubs to increase your home's curb appeal is to make sure you keep your flower beds neat and orderly. If your flower beds are unorganized, it will look like no one has taken the time to care for them, so you should take some time to plan before you plant. Make sure you consider the amount of time you have to devote to landscaping work when you're determining what to plant. If you don't have a lot of time, plant shrubs or small trees that don't require much maintenance. If you do have time to garden, feel free to plant flowers instead. Just make sure the flowers you choose coordinate well with your home's exterior. For example, choose boldly colored flowers to brighten up a home with a neutral exterior or green plants if you need foliage that blends into the background because your home already has a colorful exterior. Additionally, use a pressure washer to clean any decorative stones outlining your flower beds keep them looking fresh.
It doesn't need to be difficult or overly expensive to increase your home's curb appeal. The more clean and orderly the exterior of your home looks, the better. So, take the time to plant flowers, clean your home's exterior, and spruce up the entrance to your home to make it more appealing.
